The Humu series was written by the great Bangladeshi author Humayun Ahmed (13 November 1948 - 19 July 2012). Humayun Ahmed is a Bangladeshi writer, screenwriter and filmmaker. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, all of which were bestsellers. His writing style is characterized as magical reality. His first novel, Nandit Hell, was published in 1972 when he was still a university student. From his first novel, his themes depict the aspirations of the average middle-class urban family and the pivotal moment of their lifetime. His second novel was Shonkhonil Kargar. Humayun wrote fictional series in the literature of recurring characters like Hemu, Misir Ali, and Shuvro. He wrote a number of novels based on the Bangladesh Liberation War-Agna Poroshmani, Shravan Megara Dina and Jyotsna and Jannir Golpo. He authored four autobiographies - Hotel Gower Inn, Amar Chebelle, Color Pencil and Fountain Pen.
